Travis Barker Auctions Off 2008 Plane Crash Ticket

Travis Barker is over his fear of flying and shared a part of this achievement with fans.

The Blink-182 drummer auctioned off one of his boarding tickets from his band’s Australia tour. The event marked multiple firsts for the group, from their first tour in ten years to Barker’s significant flight milestone.

After a near-fatal plane crash in 2008, Travis Barker suffered severe physical and mental trauma that left him unable to fly for thirteen years. However, everything changed when he met his wife, Kourtney Kardashian.

Barker closed the chapter on his tragic 2008 crash by auctioning a boarding pass from his trip to Australia. He dropped the ticket on the auction website Trophy, where a portion of the sale’s profits goes to Lost But Not Forgotten, a teen adoption agency.

A picture of the boarding ticket showed he booked a flight from Sydney to Perth with the local Qantas airline. He traveled in business class in seat 7E on February 7, with seven considered an Angel number.

Perhaps because his seat number and flight date coincided with the lucky number seven, Barker scribbled, “I know I got Angels watching over me” on the pass alongside a cross.

It was unclear if this boarding pass held a special significance to Barker; however, it may be a celebration of the Blink-182 band’s first tour in ten years. Additionally, it may have something to do with his return to Australia after overcoming his fear of planes.

The auction website described the 48-year-old’s boarding pass as  “a true one of a kind item for the ultimate Travis Barker collector.” The message continued:

“Having not flown for over 13 years following his near-fatal plane crash, he was finally able to tour again overseas recently. This extremely rare commercial boarding pass is not just a piece of music memorabilia; it’s a true piece of Travis himself.”

The website noted whoever bought the ticket would receive the boarding pass in a museum-grade display case with 12 x 9 outer dimensions. It also came with a multi-layer authentication by Trophy and a signed certificate of authenticity from Barker.

The catchy description worked as Barker’s boarding pass was sold for $8,000. However, the buyer’s identity has yet to be unveiled.

Earlier in July, The Blast reported that Barker had flown 30 times since his tragic 2008 plane crash. He celebrated the achievement on Instagram Threads, crediting his loving wife for making the milestone possible.

“Just flew for the 30th time since my plane crash. Wouldn’t be able to tour or enjoy life again the way I do without the healing love of my amazing wife. I love you, @kourtneykardash,” Barker gushed.

Fans might recall the devastating crash broke Barker in more ways than one with the death of his friends. He traveled with his security guard, Charles “Che” Still, his assistant, Chris Baker, and his best friend, Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein, from South Carolina to Los Angeles.

Unfortunately, they never made it to their destination. Everyone except Barker and Goldstein died, including the plane’s pilots, James Bland and Sarah Lemmon.

Given the emotional and physical scars he received from the 2008 incident, it was no surprise that certain aspects of Barker’s life were tied to the plane crash. The Blast reported he launched a wellness project weeks earlier in July.

He dropped the news on TikTok, channeling the iconic running scene from the beloved 1994 movie “Forrest Gump.” Barker embodied the titular character, played by Hollywood veteran Tom Hanks, down to his clothes and movements.

He ran through a park and down a dirt road, passing his ever-supportive wife, who cheered him on, saying: “Run, Travis, run!” Her words referenced the movie’s iconic “Run, Forrest, run!” line.

“I JUST FELT LIKE RUNNING. Come run with me!!! Introducing @run.travis.run,” Barker captioned the post. He included the link to his new website, where he explained how running was tied to his 2008 crash.

The Rock Star Credits Running For Saving Him

On the website, Barker recalled the aftermath of the 2008 crash that left him with third-degree burns on “more than 70%” of his body. “I was told by doctors that I may never be able to walk or play drums the same again,” he explained.

Despite the devastating probability, Barker refused to give up and began training his body to walk again. He started with short walks and short runs before growing strong enough to participate in marathons.

Travis Barker noted running helped him overcome a challenging point in his life, and he wanted to give others the same experience. With the sale of his boarding pass, he has officially closed the chapter to his tragic 2008 incident.
