Podcast #334 – Interview with Cecily Knobler from “Rose Pricks” Reviewing “Pretty in Pink” – Reality Steve

For the first time in 334 podcasts, we’re switching things up a bit. Yes, Cecily Knobler from the “Rose Pricks” podcast has joined us before (in podcast #320), but never before I have I done a movie review for the weekly podcast – until today. When I last appeared on the “Rose Pricks” podcast, Cecily and I realized we both had quite the infatuation with the movie “Pretty in Pink,” the mid-80’s movie directed by John Hughes. As you know (or maybe you don’t), both songs that open and close my two podcasts are from this movie, in the same scene actually, by the same band, the Rave Ups. “Rave Up (Shut Up)” is for the Daily Roundup, and “Positively Lost Me” is the music for the weekly podcast. So we dive into that and all things “Pretty in Pink” during this hour review of the movie. We recorded this last week, so I let Cecily take the reigns since it was when I was still heavily congested. But I fight through it. Anything for one of the all-time classics from the 80’s. And yeah for the longest time, one of the major plot points of the film I didn’t even know about because I didn’t see this movie til it came on cable, and I never seemed to catch the beginning of the movie.

(SPOILERS) I begin by going over how today’s podcast came to be. Then Cecily joins me (8:30) and we review the movie “Pretty in Pink,” a movie where both my theme songs for my podcasts come from. A lot of fun, inside info of one of the mid-80’s classics directed by John Hughes.
