Oh my Gaga! Although the songstress shocked us by wearing a seemingly typical gown on the red carpet it wasn’t long before she stormed the stage in a slew of over-the-top costumes — did you have a favorite? VOTE.
We’ve seen Lady Gaga come out of an egg and step out in a meat dress, so when it comes to her red carpet style it’s clear that anything can happen — and just when we think we’ve seen it all, she managed to really shock us by stepping out in a rather traditional ensemble. On the red carpet, the year-old star opted for a Prabal Gurung peplum gown and minimal makeup — but it wasn’t long before she ditched the frock for a fierce slew of performance looks. The most impressive part of her performance was the way in which she managed to quickly change all while still rocking out on stage.
Lady Gaga’s VMA Performance Looks:
Gaga’s wackiest get-up definitely has to be the structured white outfit that she wore as she opened her performance. She looked like a nun from outer space in the eccentric, elaborate costume — but it wasn’t long before she stripped down to a sexy black catsuit. As the performance went on, her wigs changed — and she even sported face paint!
My favorite get-up on the star was definitely her sparkling blue separates. Worn over her bodysuit, it had a very 80s power suit vibe to it — and worn with a bob wig it reminded me of what Gaga looked like when she first stormed on the scene.
While her style continued to get more glitzy, her final outfit was the most shocking of all as she stripped down to a slutty mermaid costume, wearing a seashell bra and a thong. Don’t look, Ariel!
Although the outfit was seriously skimpy, it allowed the star to flaunt her weight loss — and she did look amazing! A voluminous wig made up of long, cascading curls finished off the ensemble.
Is it just me or did her seashell get-up remind you of what a college sorority girl would wear to a Halloween mixer if she wanted to dress up as Ariel from The Little Mermaid?
Even more shocking than the fact that she showed some serious skin is the fact that Gaga then sat through the entire duration of the show in the outfit!
