Now, this is very cool. Paul Dini’s “Black Canary/Zatanna” graphic novel, which has been in the works for some time now, has been schedule for a May 2014 release, as ComicsAlliance revealed. Originally stated to feature art from Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti, it seems that when it releases it will feature art from Joe Quinones. Quinones, as you probably know, has been killing it on “Captain Marvel” covers and will likely do a magnificent job on the book. I really can’t overstate how much just having art from Quinones makes me excited for the book.
From the sounds of it, it appears that the book will focus on the team up of Canary and Zatanna in the face of a female gang leader taken down by Black Canary. The gang leader then curses Canary, forcing her to recruit Zatanna to help her. Combing that with Dini’s penchant for wonderful character writing and that sounds like something I want to read.
“Black Canary/Zatanna” will finally be released in May 2014 and ComicsAlliance has a preview of Quinones art. It looks amazing. Check it out.
