Can you believe this is our thirteenth year of me bugging you to join and donate to the Co-Optimus Extra Life team? It seems like just yesterday I Jerry-rigged a poor excuse for a streaming setup and streamed Xbox 360 games for 25 hours from my living room. While 25 hours is a pipe dream at our ages, our faithful Extra Life team will be streaming a good chunk of this Saturday morning and afternoon for your delight!
What is Extra Life? Great question! It’s a charity started by gamers that benefits Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals throughout North America. If you reside on this continent, there’s probably a children’s hospital within driving distance from you, and kids (and adults) you know may have benefitted from these miraculous hospitals. Gamers join Extra Life every year, choose their preferred CMN Hospital, and raise donations throughout the year. Then, on Game Day, we play games to rally for more donations.
Why should you care? Because kids’ lives are literally at risk every day, and these hospitals save lives, families, and boost the communities around them. These hospitals have the best staff and facilities for your kids. I speak from first-hand experience since both of my daughters were born prematurely and stayed in the NICU at Children’s Wisconsin. They literally saved our oldest daughter’s life, and gave us courage to have a second daughter.
Please consider donating to one of our team members, joining yourself, or stopping by the Co-Optimus Twitch channel on game day to cheer us on. Bobby, Baldy, and I (smurph) will be streaming roughly 8:00 AM thru 4:00 PM EDT this Saturday (11/2). We hope to see you then!
