Co-Optimus – News – Enshrouded Gets Difficulty Customization and New Cosmetic Options

Since it arrived on Steam Early Access at the beginning of the year, Enshrouded has developed a very enthusiastic following. Keen Games continually publishes updates to add more content and refine the game. Case in point: the “Back to the Shroud” update adds difficulty configuration options, more character customization options, and a host of decorative items for the player’s base. This should all help the game’s 16-player online co-op experience be even more engaging.

Enshrouded is a fantasy RPG set in a world plagued by a magical pestilence called the Shroud. Gameplay combines combat, survival, crafting, exploration, and base building into one epic adventure.

The new difficulty options:

  • Default: this difficulty is still present as the baseline and would be the recommended setting for first-time players.
  • Relaxed: reduces the number of enemies and provides you with more resources and loot. A perfect mode if you are most interested in base-building and light-hearted adventuring.
  • Hard: increases the number of enemies and makes them more aggressive to give you a tougher combat experience.
  • Survival: for those who seek some punishment with additional survival mechanics on top of more aggressive enemies.

More new stuff from the “Back to the Shroud” update:

Collectible props: Equipment can now be displayed in your base by attaching them to newly available craftable props, and Collectibles (like fossils) can now be found and displayed on decorative shelves.

New character customization options: Skin color, Eye color, Eyebrow color, and Six additional new character presets

Quality of Life / Balancing: Rework of the crafting menu, Several points of interest have been reworked or improved, Improvements to blocking and parry, Mage class rebalanced

Enshrouded sells for $29.99 on Steam. The game is unsupported on Steam Deck, alas.
