Co-Optimus – News – APICO, the Relaxing Beekeeping Game, Lands on Xbox with Cross-play Co-op

Look, the market is crowded with beekeeping games nowadays. It takes a lot to buikld a buzz when there’s so much competition flying around. Still, APICO from Whitethorn Games and TNgineers has continued to grow and pollinate since it debuted last year. After arriving on practically every platform under the sun, APICO has now made it onto Xbox as well. At last, Xbox gamers can keep buzz-y with the game’s 4-player online co-op. Oh, and the other versions just got a big update as well.

APICO is known for bee-ing a very relaxing and peaceful game. The colorful 2D art style certainly creates a peaceful mood.

Features:

  • Live out your wildest beekeeping fantasies – sting free!
  • Unique crafting & beekeeping minigames that drive gameplay progression
  • Cross-breed different bees to discover over 30 new species
  • Make and sell honey, Apicola, and other beekeeping products
  • Repopulate lost species and release them back into the wild
  • Multiple biomes to explore, each with their own unique bee species
  • Uncover the forgotten secrets of the APICO islands
  • Play together with friends in 4-player online co-op!

Version 2.0 Update additions:

  • New NPCs: New friends from the mainland, Cody and Sto, have come to the APICO Islands to further their research.
  • Butterflies: Discover, collect and breed a variety of brand-new pollinators.
  • Solitary Bees: These new pollinators prefer to do things on their own – build new solitary bee hotels and help them along!
  • New Flowers: Now, there are more ways to keep the pollinator population happy – each new flower has its own new effect on the environment.
  • Incense: Through the magic of alchemy, make your own incense and candles!
  • Bee-Sides: New tracks have been added to the chill soundtrack
  • And More: New books, decorations, and a host of quality-of-life improvements have been added.

One thing the game’s feature list fails to mention is that it supports cross-play! Yes, it looks like everyone can bust their beehives together, regardless of platform. That’s always great to see, especially when AAA games sometimes neglect to offer the feature.

APICO sells for $19.99 on Xbox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, and Steam.
