Bruce Springsteen squashes farewell tour rumors: “I ain’t going anywhere!”

Bruce Springsteen has been forced to postpone shows over the past couple of years due to a peptic ulcer and vocal issues, but contrary to some recent rumors circulating, he’s not thinking of retiring from touring just yet. At his Philadelphia show on Friday (8/23), Bruce (who turns 75 on September 23) told the crowd at Citizens Bank Park, “We’ve been around for 50 fuckin’ years, and we ain’t quitting! We ain’t doing no farewell tour bullshit! Jesus Christ! No farewell tour for the E Street Band!”

“Farewell to what? A thousand people screaming your name? Get the hell out,” Bruce continued. “I ain’t going anywhere!”

Guitarist Steven Van Zandt also addressed the rumors in an interview with The Telegraph, saying, “We treat every show like it could be the last show, and we’ve been doing that for 50 years. But the audience is still there, and we can see them getting younger every year. I don’t see the end anywhere in sight, to be honest, especially in Europe, where we’re bigger than we’ve ever been. I think we can play every summer for evermore, man.”

“I love that the Stones are still out there,” Van Zandt added to The Telegraph. “Because as long as they’re out there, man, we’re still the new kids on the block, right? So I’m good with that.”

Bruce has North American shows lined up through the fall, including a return to his home state for Sea.Hear.Now 2024 in September, and his postponed European shows are now scheduled for May, June, and July of 2025. See all dates below.
