Warning: The following contains spoilers about Season 3, Episode 12 of Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso.
Well, that was just barbecue sauce.
Wednesday’s Ted Lasso finale — a series finale, if I’ve ever seen one — culminated in Coach Lasso’s return to Kansas, where he was reunited with his son Henry. His inevitable trip home was preceded by a miraculous end to AFC Richmond’s season, which saw the Greyhounds defeat West Ham United but come in second to Manchester City.
In a moment, we’ll want to hear what you thought of the 75-minute sendoff — but first, let’s break down the fate of more than two dozen characters….
-
TED LASSO
Coach Lasso returned to Kansas City, where he was reunited with Henry. In the final scene, he stood on the sidelines of Henry’s soccer game and offered his son the same advice he once gave Sam: “Be a goldfish.”
-
MICHELLE LASSO
Though she and Ted weren’t romantically linked in the end, there was also no sign of Dr. Jacob at Henry’s soccer game. Suffice it to say, the marriage counselor might’ve blown it with Ted’s ex when he showed a complete lack of interest in football.
-
WILLIS BEARD
His first name is Willis! But more importantly, he stayed in London and married Jane at Stonehenge, surrounded by his Richmond family. Also in attendance for Beard and Jane’s nuptials? Red, her menacing boyfriend Darren and their new baby!
-
REBECCA WELTON
The club matriarch decided to hold on tight to her 51-percent ownership stake in AFC Richmond, having realized that the Greyhounds gave her the family she always wanted. As an added bonus: She was reunited with the Dutchman and his daughter, giving her an actual family outside of Nelson Road.
-
ROY KENT
Roy succeeded Ted as the new manager of AFC Richmond. He also started seeing a therapist.
-
JAMIE TARTT
After letting go of his anger, Jamie reconnected with his father James, who’s clearly doing well in rehab.
-
KEELEY JONES
In the end, it was up to Keeley to choose between Roy and Jamie and she chose… neither of them. But she built back up her public relations firm and pitched Rebecca on starting an AFC Richmond women’s football team.
-
NATHAN SHELLEY
Following Ted’s exit, Nate reclaimed his former position as assistant coach, opposite Coach Beard. He also introduced Jade to his family. They were last seen having dinner at Taste of Athens.
-
RUPERT MANNION
After being called out in the press for sexual impropriety, Rupert was at risk of losing everything. Then he went and pushed newly installed West Ham coach George Cartrick to the ground and sealed his fate. Who’s the wanker now?
-
BEX
After kicking Rupert to the curb, Bex inked a book deal. Will you be preordering?
-
MS. KAKES
Rupert’s ex-mistress was cast on Love Island ripoff Love Conquers All. Fingers crossed she lasts longer than Jamie did.
-
ISAAC MCADOO
The team captain came through with the penalty kick of his career, driving the ball through the net (!) and tying the match against West Ham United. Without him, AFC Richmond wouldn’t have stood a chance in the second half.
-
COLIN HUGHES
After a miraculous 3-2 win against West Ham United, Colin reunited with Michael and kissed him in front of everyone, for the whole world to see.
-
THIERRY ZOREAUX
The goalkeeper decided to go by “Zorro,” once and for all. With a mask like that, what choice did he have?
-
SAM OBISANYA
Sam went on to achieve his life-long dream of playing for his home country of Nigeria. Suck it, Edwin Akufo!
-
DANI ROJAS
We might not have gotten the Keeley/Jamie/Roy throuple we were hoping for, but Dani lived happily ever after with the two women we last saw sharing his bed in the Season 2 opener.
-
LESLIE HIGGINS
The director of communications was last seen hosting all the Greyhounds at a backyard cookout.
-
THE CROWN & ANCHOR CREW
Rebecca gifted each Baz, Jeremy, Paul and pub owner Mae one share of AFC Richmond.
-
ZAVA
Zava went on to start his own avocado farm… in California, where he came out of retirement to play for the Los Angeles Football Club.
-
SHANDY FINE
Keeley’s former modeling friend managed to get her Starf⭐kr dating app off the ground. She even made the cover of Entrepreneur magazine.
-
TRENT CRIMM
Following Ted’s advice, Trent changed the name of his book from The Lasso Way to The Richmond Way: The Unbelievable Season of a Premier League Underdog. And he even managed to get Roy to write the forward. A very brief forward.
-
SHARON FIELDSTONE
Doc returned to Nelson Road as AFC Richmond’s Head of Mental Health and Emotional Well-Being. Among her patients: new head coach Roy Kent.
-
DEBORAH WELTON
She’s learning how to skateboard!
